Inspiring Bead Colors: Let the World Guide You to Its Finest Hues

Posted by Enchanting Beads on August 28, 2012 at 9:01 am

Color inspiration can be found everywhere. Open your creative mind up to the possibilities and you will begin to see the world in a different way. Learn how to gather inspiration from the sights, sounds and smells you encounter each day.

See Color Schemes in Nature

Mother Nature is truly the Earth’s greatest artist. Follow her lead and your beading projects will be absolutely gorgeous. Even if you live in an urban setting, take a close look at what nature has done. Green grasses, pleasant blue skies and the brilliance of the sun all offer color suggestions often displayed side by side.

Many creative individuals favor one or two seasons. This can sometimes influence their choice of bead color. Each season is diverse and favors a specific color scheme. Winter brings to mind cool blues and icy whites while summer may inspire with sizzling yellow. Spring may conjure images of dark storm clouds and vibrant blossoms. Autumn is often praised for its rich tones, which range from deep red and orange to crisp gold and brown. Give nature a few moments and she will show you her most stunning hues!

Looking with All of Your Senses

Your eyes aren’t the only tools you have that can help you find color inspiration for your beading projects. Other sensations are often associated with different hues. Take your sense of smell for example. What do you think of when you catch the scent of a fresh apple pie wafting on the wind? Do you see juicy Red Delicious apples or maybe tart, green Granny Smith apples? If you smell mouthwatering spaghetti, does the cozy red and white check of a tablecloth in a small bistro come to mind?

You can also choose colored beads with inspiration from your sense of touch and hearing. When you step into a refreshing swimming pool, fun blue and green hues probably come to mind. On the other hand, when you hear the bustling sounds of a city you might think of grey concrete or the bright yellow of a taxi cab. No matter where you live, there is natural and manmade inspiration to be found that can guide you to colors that make the finest bead jewelry!
